Since 1996, we’ve provided early intervention programs to help children overcome adversity and reach their potential. Our mission focuses on improving children's Attendance, Attainment, and Alleviation (3 A’s), helping children succeed academically and emotionally, despite the barriers poverty creates.
The Role
We are seeking Art /Drama Therapists to deliver group therapy sessions (8-10 weeks, 6 children per group) in primary school settings. This role will help children express and process emotions, build self-confidence, and develop coping mechanisms. You will work closely with teaching assistants and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for the children.
You will need to be a qualified Art /Drama Therapist with experience in delivering group therapy to children aged 8-11. You will also have clinical supervision in place, overseeing clinical outcomes and supporting the resilience of the children.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver art therapy sessions to small groups of primary school children, focusing on emotional expression and well-being.
* Create a safe, supportive environment for children to explore their emotions through art.
* Assess and monitor progress by using tools like the Child & Youth Resilience Measure-Revised (CYRM-R).
* Provide progress reports to school staff, parents, and The Chandran Foundation team.
* Safeguarding & reporting: Collaborate with the school and The Chandran Foundation to protect children’s welfare, reporting any concerns in line with safeguarding protocols.
* Supervision & professional development: Attend regular supervision sessions (costs covered) and engage in professional development.
* Collaboration: Work closely with school staff, parents, and other professionals to ensure the therapy aligns with children’s needs.

Qualifications
* Recognized qualification in Art Therapy (or Drama Therapy).
* HCPC-registered Art Therapist.
* Experience working with children in a school setting.
Skills and Experience
* Proven ability to deliver effective group art therapy.
* Experience working with children facing challenges such as poverty, trauma, or behavioral difficulties.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills with school staff, parents, and other professionals.
* A solid understanding of child development and therapeutic interventions.
* Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.

Additional Information
* Hourly Rate: £50 per hour.
* Supervision Costs: Supervision sessions are required and will be paid separately.
* Working Hours: Flexible hours based on school schedules. You’ll deliver 2-3 groups per week, possibly across multiple schools in the same London borough or based at just one school depending on funding agreements. Each group will run for 1.5 hours over 8-10 weeks.
