We have multiple openings for Automation and Instrumentation & Controls Specialists to support our public, private and federal clients locally and around the world with all phases of SCADA automation projects.
An Automation Specialist at CDM Smith:
1. Creates basic to moderately complex instrumentation, controls and related systems designs using 3D and 4D design practices. Assists with specification development. Creates basic to moderately complex human-machine interface (HMI) graphics, programmable logic controller programming (PLC), report development, etc. Assists with testing and startup of control systems.
2. Reviews basic to highly complex component level shop drawings, contractor clarifications. Assists with testing oversight.
3. Leads staff and provides direction and mentoring for junior staff. Reviews the work of junior staff as necessary.
4. Under general supervision, assists in the preparation proposal sections and presentations, as directed. Supports marketing and new business activities as requested in support of the Automation strategy. May participate in proposals.
5. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
• 5 years of related experience. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Water/Wastewater highly preferred.
• Experience within an Engineering and/or an integration firm highly preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation, controls and related systems designs. PLC and HMI experience required.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft office suite of programs.
• Expert knowledge of 3D and 4D design practices.
Pay Range:
Minimum: $81,765 | Maximum: $134,909
Amount of Travel Required: 20%
Driver's License Requirements: An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.
Work Location Options: Hybrid Work Options may be considered for successful candidate.
