TeacherActive is looking for a SEMH TA / SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist school that caters for young people with cognitive, learning, communication, interaction, and sensory needs. As a teaching assistant, your responsibilities will include assisting the teacher with lessons, working 1:1 with SEN students who have complex needs, and creating a calm and purposeful learning environment. We build great relationships with our schools and support staff to find the best placements for you. The ideal SEMH TA / SEN Teaching Assistant should have the following:
* Level 2/3 in a relevant qualification and/or experience in a care, support work, or school environment
* Good communication skills
* A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines
* Experience in supporting students in their education on a 1:1 and small group basis
* Confidence in handling behavior challenges displayed by young people
