Overview:
First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic International Defence business who are looking to recruit a Marine Engineering Instructor on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Faslane depot. This opportunity would also support you gaining a teaching qualification!
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Training: Accountable to the Lead ME Instructor: To provide Astute Class Training Service (ACTS) instruction to students, predominantly within the ME & NSRP disciplines but also to provide assistance with generic training, for example, Astute Class Familiarisation and Submarine Qualification Training (SMQ). All training is to be delivered to prescribed standards and within contractual requirements.
2. Training: Accountable to the Lead Skills Instructor: To Provide other instruction, in for example, Confined Space and Working at Height training to students external to the Astute Class Training Service (ACTS) contract. Training is to be delivered to prescribed standards, quality and cost.
3. Courseware Maintenance: Liaise with the Training Design (TD) team and provide SME support for the routine review and amendment of ME and NSRP courseware.
4. Change: Provide SME support to the review and evaluation of technical data/notifications of change, identifying the impact of change on existing ME and NSRP courseware. Liaison with the TD team to implement required change to ME and NSRP courseware.
5. Administration: Conduct all administration and reporting activities associated with the delivery of training to contractual requirement and also as otherwise directed by the management team.
6. Business Development: Provide SME advice in support of the Marine Training Directorate. Delivering to cost, schedule and quality for each bid/job allocated.
7. Ensure Company health, safety and environmental procedures are implemented and complied with at all times.
Assessment of trainees to include:
1. Creation of written/ digital examination and progress test papers.
2. Creation of practical assessment/examination scenario and continuous assessments.
3. Marking of examination papers, setting and marking of course and homework, invigilation of examination and assessments.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Ex Royal Navy (RN) Category A or Category B NSRP watch keeper
2. Core “H” experience
3. Dual electrical and mechanical qualification (Double Category B)
4. Defence Train the Trainer Version 2
5. Recent sea experience on Astute Class submarines
6. Previous experience of training delivery.
