Redefine your personal best.
Over the years, Stantec has developed a reputation as a progressive and forward-thinking consultancy through the consistent and repeated delivery of high-quality work to our clients, as reflected by the long-standing relationships we continue to enjoy with a variety of clients across the UK water industry.
As a result of our growing pipeline of work, Stantec is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Water Business in the West Region at our Bristol, Exeter, and Cardiff offices. You will grow our reputation within the local community and Water Business by providing mechanical design services for a range of projects.
The successful candidate will be involved in the whole project life cycle from development of strategy through to feasibility, optioneering, and detailed design and construction support, including site surveys and investigations. In line with our Communities of Practice approach, there are also opportunities to work on a wide variety of other projects in water, wastewater, energy, infrastructure, and environmental sectors.
As an experienced Mechanical Engineer, you will hold responsibility for working and liaising with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners, and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for the projects and community.
The successful candidate will be a Mechanical Engineer who is Chartered or Incorporated with the IMechE with experience in mechanical design, ideally within the water industry.
You will be experienced in producing technical specifications, pump sizing calculations, schedules, and reports and be familiar with collaborative reviews and designs of solutions.
You will be able to provide engineering input to collaborative design outputs, such as General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
To be successful in this role, you will have strong communication skills to give technical presentations to clients and other design engineers as well as inputting into collaborative design discussions including technical workshops, HAZOPs, and ALMs.
You will understand how water and wastewater treatment processes operate and be experienced in assessing existing site infrastructure to develop and deliver the mechanical design. We would also be interested in speaking with candidates who have experience within the energy, infrastructure, and environmental sectors in a mechanical engineering capacity.
Most importantly, you will embody and support our values of client focus, designing with community in mind, collaboration, and service excellence.
