As Connections and Commissioning Manager, you’ll be accountable for leading the teams that ensure that system changes and commissioning plans have been fully assessed to ensure the control room can deliver these on the HV transmission network. You’ll oversee the future talent and continuous improvement of processes.
Summary of Key Accountabilities
1. Lead the teams who ensure strategies are approved for new connections, system changes and commissioning of assets.
2. Build strategic relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders. Facilitate issue resolution and lead the agenda in our interactions with these organisations.
3. Lead on process improvements and strengthen the alignment of internal processes to other relevant NGET processes, such as the Investment and Planning processes.
4. Implement connections and commissioning work scheduling to the control room, including prioritisation and issue-resolution from long-term planning until the day ahead.
5. Deliver Approvals of the capital plan design compliance process and develop strategies to facilitate delivery of connections and asset replacements.
6. Lead and manage the interface between planning teams and the control room regarding HV system changes and commissioning programmes.
7. Lead a team of connections and commissioning leads, technicians and technical specialists.
8. Deliver business outputs within approved budgets and lead recruitment and development strategies for the team.
You’ll be based out of our offices in Warwick, with occasional travel to sites, and this can be combined with hybrid working from home.
What you'll need
With a proven track record of leading and managing multi-functional teams of specialists, you’ll have a good knowledge of investment planning, delivery, design compliance, commissioning and/or construction delivery processes.
A good knowledge of transmission and/or distribution network configuration on High Voltage networks would be advantageous, as would experience of working in the electricity industry, with experience in outage planning, control rooms or site commissioning activities.
Excellent communication, negotiation and dispute resolution skills as well as excellent problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to make value-based prioritisation decisions within tight timescales, are all essential. You’ll also need high level analytical and organisational skills, and experience of leading change.
In addition, you’ll have the ability to build strategic relationships and work collaboratively across business functions and external organisations. You’ll be educated to degree level in a relevant engineering subject or have equivalent academic qualifications, coupled with experience.
