The Mine Superintendent is based at our Middleton, TN site, and provides leadership and support to our Heavy Equipment Operators, Exploration Drillers, Mine Crew Chief and Mine Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Manage all aspects of the mining operation, including safety and the day-to-day management of the mining and exploration drilling team.
* Develop comprehensive block models and mine plans as needed to support short and long-range mine plans, and create weekly production goals to ensure safe and efficient operations.
* Mobilize and demobilize mining equipment to several mining sites to maintain and characterize ore stockpiles ahead of demand at our processing facility.
* Participate in mining feasibility studies to define proper mining methods, equipment selection, mine site facilities, capital and operating costs, and manpower and production requirements.
* Serve as Project Manager or technical expert on large/complex site expansion or modification projects.
* Manage contracted mining when required.
* Provide technical direction for engineering, exploration, and mining teams.
* Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal agencies regarding safety and environmental regulations.
* Direct the evaluation of opportunities for land acquisition and development as required.
* Assist in maintaining records for lease payments, royalties, contracted mining payments, and mining claims.
* Prepare capital justifications for new equipment purchases and major components.
* Lead the organization from "adequacy" to "best in the business" by driving improvements in mine planning, extraction, and operations.
* Manage environmental compliance with laws and policies.
* Drive culture change and performance management/accountability across the mining operation.
* Understand and manage financial results.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
* Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering
* Experience with mine planning software (i.e., Surpac or Mincom) and surveying with GPS.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong analytical and financial skills.
* PowerPoint presentation skills to illustrate exploration and mine planning projects, cost, timing, alternatives, and contingencies.
* Ability to blend coaching, modeling, managing, and recruiting to drive improved results effectively.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities.
