Who we are
Marshall Motor Group was established in 1909 by David Gregory Marshall, in a small lock-up garage in Brunswick Gardens, Cambridge and we are now the UK's 7th largest motor retail group (AM100 11/24). We operate 147 franchise stores representing 25 manufacturer car, van, truck and bike brands across 34 counties in England. Our vision is to be the UK’s premier automotive retail group as recognised by our colleagues, customers and business partners.
The role
We are seeking a General Manager to join our Audi division and manage our Canterbury store. This role will see you lead day to day operations across the site including full accountability for store's financial performance and line management of the leadership teams. Reporting to the Franchise Director, this role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis, and offers the right candidate a chance to join a successful group with high employee engagement.
What you’ll do
As a General Manager, you will have overall accountability for people and financial performance for our Audi Canterbury store. With support from your Franchise Director and corporate support functions, you will:
1. Lead, manage and motivate a team of automotive professionals, ensuring the store is adequately resourced.
2. Drive a high performance culture, ensuring performance is rewarded and underperformance is managed.
3. Oversee the sales and aftersales divisions, ensuring performance meets or exceeds budget.
4. Set financial and growth objectives for each department, and plan accordingly to ensure profit and product targets are met.
5. Accurately finalise store reporting, in line with group reporting frameworks.
6. Develop and roll out store marketing and publicity strategies to support objectives.
7. Support the store to consistently achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
8. Ensure store activities are conducted in line with Marshall Motor Group, manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
Who you are
Given the nature of this role, it is preferred that you have previous experience at a General Manager level. Manufacturer experience or VAG Group experience would be beneficial, but isn’t essential to the success of this role. In addition to your previous experience, we are seeking individuals who display the following attributes:
1. Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate a large and diverse team.
2. A professional and calm approach with strong stakeholder management skills to manage internal and external stakeholders.
3. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to foresee potential barriers.
4. A commitment to the Marshall Values of People, Customers, Integrity and Innovation.
Our policy is to employ the best qualified people and provide equal opportunity for the advancement of employees including promotion and training and not to discriminate against any person because of gender, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, religion, belief, or disability.
