Commercial Director Excellent opportunity to lead the Commercial function for a growing, £100m Sub Contractor. Location: - Derby Hybrid working 3 days a week in the office and 2 days a week from home or travelling to other offices. Salary: £100,000 - £120,000 basic Car or Allowance Bonus Package Role Description The Resolute Group has been retained by a Sub-Contractor working in the Infrastructure sector, supporting Tier 1 contractors and directly into client-side organisations. Working across road and rail projects ranging from £10k - £10million, as well as minor works frameworks. This role reports in to the MD for the business, managing the entire Commercial function including the Pre-construction and post-construction teams. Managing different teams from the Estimating & Tendering functions through to the Quantity Surveyors and project accounts. As such you will be leading and developing the people around you, ideally already achieving MRICS status so you can mentor future Chartered Quantity Surveyors. As well as the people management there is the technical knowledge, taking the lead in the commercial reporting and quality control. Mentoring your team in resolving disputes and managing contractual variations as required. Working at a strategic level means you will be involved with various areas of the business whilst keeping the day-to-day commercial operations running smoothly. Responsibilities will change but could include: Collaborate with Managing Director to set and agree budgets and forecasts in line with the strategic business plan. Recruit, train, and effectively deploy commercial staff. Maximise financial returns on projects through strategic management. Review and negotiate terms and conditions of contracts/subcontracts pre and post-tender award. Maintain healthy cash flow within the Business as a whole. Developing and implementing commercial strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives. Overseeing the business bidding and tendering teams to ensure cohesive and effective execution of strategies. You will be working out of the head office in Derby but expected to travel to the other offices across the UK. With a balance of office and home-based working once you are established in the business and managing your teams as you see fit. Experience and Qualification Proven experience in leading a commercial team. (Commercial Director, Senior Commercial Manager, or Regional Commercial Manager) Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (Degree level). Ideally MRICS qualified Excellent understanding and experience with all NEC forms of contract. Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
