Job Title: Support Worker / Companion
Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer (Mum & Dad)
Hours: 16 hours per month (average 4 hours per week)
Hourly Rate of Pay: £11.50
Based at: Ipswich, Suffolk.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this job is to support a teenage boy with autism, epilepsy, ASD, and SPD. The child lives at home with his Mum, Dad, and sister. The goal is to build a professional relationship with the child, support him to become more independent, and assist with his daily needs. The teenage boy loves music/sounds and has a keen interest in buses, trains, and clocks. He struggles to express himself, so support will be required to encourage and motivate him to engage in activities he enjoys. He has a set routine and prefers to adhere to it.
To support with:
* Engaging with the teenager and participating in activities he enjoys, e.g., watching trains/buses, visiting the play park, going for long walks, visiting coffee shops, the zoo, and the beach.
* Providing constant supervision at all times.
* Assisting with all safety aspects.
* Administering medication (emergency medication).
* Using reins when out in the community and providing access to his wheelchair.
* Building a supportive relationship and participating in enjoyable activities.
* Providing personal care as needed, e.g., changing him if he has a fit/seizure.
* Supporting his independence.
* Being supportive, encouraging, and engaging.
* Performing other reasonable duties as required.
Personal Specification
* Be patient and supportive.
* Willingness to undergo any training highlighted by the employer.
* Understanding of the child and his needs.
* Preferably have a driving license.
* Have a bubbly and outgoing personality.
* Be flexible with working hours.
* Ability to work on your own initiative and be aware of risks.
* Preferably have training in manual handling, medication administration, and awareness of autism and epilepsy.

This post is subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check at the employer's request prior to commencing employment. This is confidential and at no cost to yourself. The post carries a 3-month probationary period.
