At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose – to improve people’s lives. This is a Fixed Term post to 31/3/2026 with possibility of extension subject to funding. About the Role We are seeking an experienced Land Adviser to support our work driving nature recovery across Bath and North East Somerset. The role will include working within a variety of our landscape programmes, including Somer Valley Rediscovered, Bathscape and the new Landscape City project. The Land Adviser will work alongside our Nature Recovery Manager and GI Programme Managers to bring both council owned land and land owned by other project partners or private landowners into good management to deliver nature recovery, improve people’s health and wellbeing, and increase climate resilience. This post will build our ability to increase the extent of the Council’s land managed for nature, helping us to reach our target of managing at least 30% of Council land for nature by 2030, and will enable us to better access funding to achieve this aim. It will also build on our strong record of partnership working to identify opportunities for partners and private landowners to improve the management of land for nature in strategic locations. The role will report to the Nature Recovery Manager in the Green Infrastructure and Nature Recovery Team, and you will be expected to work collaboratively with our Principal Ecologist, GI Programme Managers and other colleagues within the GI and Nature Recovery team. In particular, this will include working closely with our GI Programme Managers to deliver habitat improvements through our landscape programmes. About You We are looking for candidates with practical experience in habitat management and advice across a broad range of habitats. You will have experience of working with farmers and contractors to deliver habitat improvements, and an understanding of environmental and countryside stewardship schemes. You will also have good literacy skills to create management plans, specifications and reports. You must be able to think creatively to identify new opportunities and have strong negotiating skills.
