School Sports Coach
(Education and Employability Activator)
Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation (MFCF) is the Club’s independent charity of MFC established in 1996 by Club Chairperson, Steve Gibson. The Foundation uses the power of the MFC brand to engage with the community to provide opportunities for disadvantaged young people and adults to maximise their potential to achieve.
Working closely with an Officer and a Coordinator with the Education and Employability Team, the role will deliver on the Middlesbrough FC Foundation’s education programmes including Premier League Primary Stars, EFL Trust Move and Learn and Premier League Inspires. The role will also support on occasion wider Foundation programmes including but not limited to our adult engagement employability offer such as Sports Coaching Foundation Degree, Bright Lights and SCORE. The delivery will focus on high-quality, engaging activity including Physical Education (PE), educational workshops
(PSHE), mentoring and other sports and physical activity. There will also be support and delivery on other Foundation wide programmes such as Dementia, FIT Boro and Premier League Kicks, as well as supporting our values and key themes of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI), safeguarding, social action and impact to be embedded in all delivery.
DUTIES
• Deliver a range of PE, physical activity/sport and educational workshops in primary schools as well as breakfast/lunchtime/after-school provision and activities for teacher planning, preparation and assessment (PPA) time cover.
• Deliver a range of targeted interventions to children in primary schools
• Support with the mentoring and support of young people engaged in secondary schools and/or employability programmes
• Support with the delivery and facilitation of afternoon and evening provision in the local community related to employability, health and wellbeing and social inclusion
• Support the development of relationships with local partners and participants.
• Engage in the planning and development of lessons/sessions in line with stakeholder frameworks.
• Support the relevant Officer and Coordinator to design and adapt the content of delivery to meet the needs of target groups for our offer.
• Contribute to data and impact measurement working with the Data and Impact Coordinator and apply relevant data protection measures.
• Contribute to engaging social media content with the support of the Media Officer.
• Promote the vision, mission and core values of the Foundation.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive practices, adapting resources and engagements to ensure equal opportunities for all
CANDIDATES MUST HAVE:
Essential
• Experience and/or understanding of education and employability
• Experience of delivering sport, physical activity and workshops related to education.
• UKCC Level 1 Coaching qualification or equivalent (willing to work towards Level 2)
• Flexible working in accordance with the requirements of the service
• Ability to communicate well with a range of participants, in particular children and young people.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• IT skills, to include knowledge of using a variety of software packages including word, spreadsheets and databases. • Full driving licence with ability to work/visit a variety of locations other than immediate workplace on a regular basis.
Desirable
• UKCC Level 2 Coaching qualification or equivalent
• Qualified Teacher Status
• 1st4Sport Level 3 Certificate in Supporting the Delivery of PE and School Sport (PESS)
• Qualification and/or experience in specialised subjects of numeracy, literacy and/or PSHE
• Mental health first aid qualification.
• Emergency First Aid qualification.
• Youth Work qualification and/or experience of one-to-one mentoring
• Experience and/or understanding of health and wellbeing and/or social inclusion
