Egis Road Operations M40 Ltd are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects relating to the M40's commercial processes. They'll report directly into the Commercial Manager and cover a wide range of responsibilities including managing contractors, commercial strategy implementation, month-end reporting, contract administration, etc.
Job Description
* A key part of this role will involve assisting the Commercial Manager with Change Control, including the administration of Additional Works Notifications and Purchase Orders under the Contract. This will require an upfront & proactive approach to the management of change, close liaison with internal colleagues & the need to form strong, open working relationships with external colleagues based on trust & integrity.
* Providing support to the Finance Manager in the preparation & submission of Sub-Contractor Payment Certificates, Internal & External Forecasting & Accruals.
* Maintain a database of accredited subcontractors, advise on procurement strategy, allocate work, agree, and raise contract order documents and oversee monthly payments.
* Managing the pursuit of Green Claim income including liaising with specialist legal representatives and loss adjusters.
* Ensuring compliance with statutory legislation and internal policies and procedures related to Commercial processes.
* Preparing reports.
* Support the Commercial Manager in achieving commercially driven objectives and monitoring Key Performance Indicators.
* Promote continual improvement within the organisation.
* Ensure effective implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
* Advise colleagues of other departments on Commercial issues relevant to their department.
* Ensure effective control and evaluation of key suppliers and subcontractors.
Qualifications
Technical skills:
* The Quantity Surveyor must have the ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both written and orally. To be able to work with minimum supervision, meet the scheduled timelines, and to plan and organise their workload accordingly. A willingness to learn and adapt to new ideas as well as being flexible and proactive are essential for this position.
* Desirable - Experience of working on Civil Engineering and Infrastructure projects.
* Good working knowledge and understanding of main forms of contract, sub-contracts, and procurement options.
* Proven ability to successfully implement Commercial Management functions, processes, and procedures.
* Capability to commercially manage a portfolio of major projects or frameworks.
* Confident with proven interpersonal and communication skills.
* Good IT Skills.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite, especially EXCEL.
* Knowledge and implementation of Risk management processes.
* Experience of bidding processes and good presentation skills.
Educational background and experience:
* The Quantity Surveyor should have a minimum HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or similar.
Desired Skills:
* A degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management or similar.
* MRICS, MCInstCES status or equivalent.
* PRINCE2 Accreditation.
* Familiarity with the Highways England Project Control Framework Process.
