Description ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a compassionate and empathetic volunteer to provide therapeutic touch, hand massage and nail painting. Training will be provided, and no formal qualifications are required. The main objective of this role is to offer patients or carers time, a listening ear, and comfort. You don’t need to be an expert or a professional – just someone passionate about helping others and promoting relaxation through pampering. In this role you will be supervised at all times and you will receive training in therapeutic touch. Your role will help us enhance the wellbeing of our patients, both inpatients and outpatients, as well as their carers. By dedicating your time and care, you will create a supportive environment that fosters emotional and physical comfort, contributing to their overall health and happiness. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING As a Pamper Volunteer you will learn to provide therapeutic touch to patients and carers who attend our Wellbeing and Support Hub within the hospice. Therapeutic touch can include hand massage, holding hands, or offering face cleansing. You will be given training on how to provide this care from a qualified professional before you start volunteering. Your role might include some of the following which you will carry out under supervision: Provide outpatient appointments Provide appointments to inpatients and carers Painting nails Offering hand massage Offering face moisturising Giving patients or carers space and time Creating a comforting environment WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Ability to listen to others and be compassionate. Understand that everyone’s experience is different. Willingness to learn. Comfortable with nail painting and offering therapeutic touch. Able to attend training in hand massage and face moisturisation Can work independently and part of a team VOLUNTEERING REQUIREMENTS: Enthusiasm and compassion. Someone who is comfortable listening. Good communication skills. Willingness to participate in continued training and learning.
