HMP Northumberland is looking for additional Clinical Leads to provide mental health care to patients. This role will be responsible for assessment and caseload management of those referred into mental health services, working as part of a stepped care model. You will complete comprehensive assessments, confidently communicate treatment options, initiate supportive care plans, and provide evidence-based interventions alongside the wider multi-disciplinary team.
You will work with internal and external partners, including partner healthcare providers, prison colleagues, social care providers, and probation services. Excellent communication skills and a teamwork ethos are essential.
Main duties of the job
You will be a Registered Mental Health, Learning Disability Nurse, or registered professional with at least 18 months experience within a B5 or B6 role. You will have a flexible approach to working within a team that encourages new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
You will have experience providing compassionate mental health care and an understanding of the criminal justice system. You will make ongoing assessments of need reflecting individual circumstances and provide relevant interventions and input to discharge planning. Strong coordination and planning skills are required, with the ability to make decisions based on comprehensive health and risk assessments.
You should be innovative, flexible, and able to engage with patients with complex needs. You will be committed to a person-centred approach and have the ability to prioritise.
Please note this post has a £3,000 joining bonus alongside development opportunities for successful applicants. This incentive is paid as follows: £1,500 upon joining the Trust, £750 after year 1, and £750 after year 2.

Essential
* RNMH/RNLD or registered practitioner, current professional registration with NMC or relevant professional body.
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
* MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education (within agreed timescales)
* 18 months post-qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework
* Clinical Supervisor (within agreed timescales).
* Recognised sign-off mentor or must be achieved within agreed timescale.
* Qualified practitioner in CBT, DBT, PSI, dual diagnosis etc. (within agreed timescale).
* Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
