The Directorate of Quality Governance supports all areas within East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) to deliver high quality and safe services for our patients.
We are seeking a knowledgeable, skilled and highly motivated individual to join the team in the key corporate role of Head of Risk Management and Assurance.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for leading, promoting and facilitating effective risk management and assurance across all areas of the organisation in line with the Risk Management Strategy.
The post holder will provide a combination of subject matter expertise, particularly in relation to risk, with leadership skills to develop and drive performance, working with Senior Leaders across the organisation and governance leads to demonstrate compliance with policies, guidelines and standards. The post holder's portfolio will include policies, clinical guidelines, and the implementation of CAS alerts, via the management of a small team.

Person specification
Qualifications and training
* Relevant professional registration OR specialist qualification in Risk Management
* Educated to Masters level or equivalent specialist qualification relevant to the post (i.e. risk/patient safety/governance)
* Minimum 2 years’ recent experience working at Band 8A level within risk management and quality assurance
* A proven track record leading programmes of change at a senior level in an NHS environment including staff management.
Skills and experience
* Demonstrable previous success in supporting and delivering change and performance with and through clinical/operational teams.
* Proven ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them.
* A strong sense of personal and team accountability coupled with a clear understanding of the boundaries around delegated authority.
* Ability to think and plan strategically, tactically and creatively, and to prioritise work programmes in the face of competing demands.
* Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
* Previous experience of planning and organising training events
Governance
* Experience of developing and implementing policies and strategy
* Evidence of preparing reports at a senior/Board level.
* Knowledge of Risk Management and NHS national guidelines on Risk Management.
* Experience of using a Risk Management System
