We are seeking a committed and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a small, specialised setting that supports students aged 7-18 with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs. In this role, you will work with a small group of students with a range of diagnoses including Autism, ADHD, FASD, Sensory Processing Disorder, attachment needs, and mild to moderate learning difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide mentorship and support to an individual pupil or a small group of no more than six students.
- Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
- Monitor and report on pupils' progress and concerns, working closely with other school staff to meet pupils' needs.
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, including extracurricular events and school trips.
- Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
- Set tasks when appropriate and assess completed work.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging engagement and fostering a supportive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Strong educational background, ideally up to A-level, with at least a Grade C (or equivalent) in GCSE English Language and Mathematics, and solid IT skills.
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant.
- Experience working with students with SEMH needs in an educational setting.
- Skilled in behaviour management with effective techniques.
- Committed to continuous professional development and eager to learn.
