RAC are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer from a product orientated background who will be an integral part of our exciting change journey. In this new position you will contribute to the development and implementation of the RAC’s digital strategy using agile software development techniques, methodologies, values and procedures.

The role is hybrid working with 2 days per week in either our Bristol or Bescot office.
What you will do
1. Push the boundaries of the organisation's coding practices, extending languages and libraries where needed.
2. Lead on efforts to improve documentation and code skills across the organisation. You've actively pushed other engineers to improve how code is understood and read.
3. Regularly mentoring mentors, raising the quality of every team member's code
4. Expertise in the organization's architecture, including all domains, their bounded contexts, and how they interact with each other.
5. Has proven experience working in large teams and understands the right design patterns to embed within teams to enable high volumes of releases
6. Takes ownership of decisions made in the engineering organization by helping organization members make clear decisions in alignment with organizational goals, backing decisions made, and taking responsibility for their success. Raises awareness for how biases impact decisions and ensures accountability is practiced throughout the organization. Demonstrates these behaviours themselves.
7. Control technical debt and ensure testing and security are first-class considerations.
8. Ability to deeply understand technical issues that aren’t necessarily within your day-to-day stack.
9. Thorough understanding of best practice in the software engineering lifecycle.
What you will need
10. Work using the required technologies (including): C#, .NET Core, .NET 8, SQL, Cosmos DB alongside proficiency with the Azure Cloud Environment and Kubernetes
11. In depth knowledge of industry standard tools and languages used within the RAC technology ecosystem.
12. Deep understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
13. Thorough understanding of best practice in the software engineering lifecycle.
14. Understanding of and a passion for automation
15. Ability to help coach the team to reach their highest potential.
16. Must be "self-motivated" as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems.
17. Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines.
