Piece Hall Event Manager
Location: The Piece Hall, Halifax
Reports to: General Manager
Rate - £18.10 per hour (plus holiday pay)
Hours: All show days (36 confirmed) 1 admin day per week
End date: Beginning of September 2025
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Event Manager to join Peppermint Events, based at The Piece Hall in Halifax. The Piece Hall is a unique open-air courtyard located in the heart of Halifax, hosting a fabulous run of concerts from May to August.
Join our Peppermint Summer Events Team as an Event Manager at The Piece Hall, delivering outstanding food and beverage experiences across a wide range of our summer shows. We have an array of artists lined up for the Summer, including Busted, Rag’n’Bone Man, and The Libertines!
We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead a dynamic team, overseeing all bar operations and staffing alongside the General Manager, ensuring the smooth execution of every show and providing an excellent guest experience for up to 6,000 guests.
Key Accountabilities:
Bar Operations
Stock Control & Inventory Management:
1. Oversee the bar’s stock levels before, during, and after events.
2. Manage inventory and forecast needs based on expected attendance.
3. Work closely with suppliers for timely deliveries.
Bar Setup and Operations:
1. Ensure bar areas are properly set up with efficient workflows.
2. Uphold company and venue policies.
3. Maintain food & hygiene, H&S standards.
4. Ensure paperwork is correctly completed.
5. Uphold licensing requirements.
Revenue Tracking & Cost Control:
1. Monitor sales and ensure accurate revenue tracking.
2. Work with finance to align pricing with budget and goals.
3. Manage costs while providing excellent customer service.
Staffing
Recruitment & Staffing:
1. Liaise with agency staffing to ensure accurate levels.
2. Manage shift planning for adequate coverage.
3. Coordinate with other departments for staffing during dark days.
4. Provide training for bar staff on customer service and safety procedures.
Team Motivation and Supervision:
1. Oversee staff during events, ensuring smooth operations.
2. Maintain high standards of customer service.
Client and On-Site Communication
1. Ensure effective communication externally and internally.
2. Work with senior management to provide clients with bar service information.
3. Address clients' needs and special requests.
4. Gather feedback post-event to evaluate experiences.
Health and Safety
Compliance with Safety Regulations:
1. Ensure adherence to health, safety, and security regulations.
2. Communicate emergency procedures to staff.
Crowd Control and Venue Security:
1. Coordinate with security teams for venue security.
2. Address disruptions promptly to ensure guest safety.
Other Responsibilities
1. Coordinate event timelines for seamless service.
2. Ensure sustainability best practices are followed.
3. Provide high levels of customer service throughout events.
Knowledge/Experience and Skills
1. Prior experience in managing bar operations or large-scale events.
2. Personal License Holder.
3. Level 2 food hygiene certificate (preferred).
4. Sound understanding of EPOS systems.
5. Strong organisational and administrative skills.
6. Extensive knowledge of compliance.
7. Ability to communicate effectively in high-pressure situations.
8. Proven ability to lead and manage teams.
9. Ability to make quick decisions and handle emergencies calmly.
In this role, the Internal Event Manager is responsible for ensuring the overall guest experience is enjoyable, safe, and efficient. The position requires a blend of leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
