Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Principal Building Control Surveyor to join Stoke on Trent City Council on an initial 3-6 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Key Responsibilities: Oversee and deliver high-quality Building Control services for the council and partner authorities. Manage and support a team of Senior and Assistant Building Surveyors. Ensure compliance with statutory building regulations, including fire safety and safety at sports grounds. Lead on complex and high-rise building inspections, ensuring national performance standards are met. Work closely with local and national clients, securing partnerships and expanding service opportunities. Act as a key advisor on dangerous structures and out-of-hours emergency response. Develop policies and procedures to enhance service delivery and efficiency. Represent the council in professional groups and national discussions on best practices. What We’re Looking For: Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent technical qualifications. Extensive experience in Building Control, including complex commercial and residential projects. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team. Expert knowledge of health and safety legislation, fire regulations, and inclusive design. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills. Ability to work independently on safety at sports grounds and dangerous structures.
