Carmichael UK are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a major civils project in Devon on a contracting (or permanent) long-term basis.
As Senior QS, you will need to carry out tasks independently (and at times involve leading a small group of commercial staff). This will include both periodical duties and one-off tasks in accordance with deadlines as directed by the senior Commercial team. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Preparing and agreeing variation accounts – main contract and sub-contracts.
2. Monitoring cost against targets and contract progress against accepted programmes and work plans in conjunction with other team disciplines.
3. Providing input into change control procedures for EOT, delays, and performance adjustments.
4. Preparing and agreeing interim valuations, final valuations, final accounts, and sub-contract final accounts.
5. Preparing and issuing certification and payment of sub-contractors.
6. Providing contractual advice to management to ensure compliance with contract and legal administration obligations (e.g., timely issue of relevant notices).
7. Negotiating and progressing the resolution of any disputes.
8. Identifying potential commercial risks and evaluating options for their control and management.
About You:
1. Qualified with a Quantity Surveying degree or similar.
2. Enrolled in, or seeking membership of, a relevant professional institution (CICES, RICS or similar).
3. Successful experience at Quantity Surveyor level, displaying skill in delivering a positive commercial outcome for the project(s) with which you have been associated.
4. The ability to listen, learn, and take on board new concepts while mentoring junior team members.
5. You must hold a full driving license.
Must be happy to work Inside IR35 through PAYE contract.
Preference is for site-based work full time; however, hybrid is available for the correct person.
