ROLE: Buyer LOCATION: Aberdare SALARY: £30,000 - £35,000 ROLE OVERVIEW The Buyer is responsible for overseeing the sourcing and procurement of both direct and indirect materials, ensuring that all actions are in compliance with company protocols. This position is essential for determining the necessary quantities and timing of deliveries to support production schedules effectively. Experience Required: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a purchasing or procurement role within a manufacturing environment. COLLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENT The Buyer will engage with various departments, including: Materials (Stores) Quality Control Production Engineering Finance Customers and Suppliers Senior Leadership PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee the sourcing and procurement of materials, determining optimal delivery quantities and timelines to meet production demands. Analyse technical specifications to identify suitable parts and alternatives. Conduct negotiations on pricing and contracts to optimise savings and fulfil contractual commitments. Manage MRP recommendations and forecast stock needs to accommodate variable customer requirements. Ensure the integrity of Master Data in SAGE regarding pricing, lead times, and supplier contact details to support financial targets. Deliver strategic pricing insights for customer RFQs to enhance market competitiveness. Identify and engage reliable suppliers, monitoring their performance to ensure compliance with delivery, cost, and quality standards. Participate in supplier meetings to foster relationships and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain a professional approach to customer interactions, ensuring effective communication and relationship management. Demonstrate leadership qualities and adhere to company HR policies. Provide regular feedback on material-related issues and performance indicators. TEAM CONTRIBUTION The Buyer will actively contribute to the Materials Team by: Identifying essential processes and success factors related to materials management. Implementing 5S methodologies and other Continuous Improvement strategies. Managing Performance Measurement Processes (PMP), Training Documentation, and ISO Compliance. Collaborating with other departments to address issues and engage in cross-functional projects. Undertaking additional responsibilities as directed by the Operations Manager, within their area of expertise.
