Job Introduction
There is a requirement to recruit 2 Section Engineers to support with the delivery of the Copthall Tunnel Railhead. This is a package with a total cost of circa £25m, permanent works incorporated in this package are: Bulk Earthworks; Drainage; Piling; Access Road & Car park; Hardstand installation and Pre-track construction.

Role Responsibility
Section Engineer is required to aid with current temporary and enabling works for the Railhead, in addition to upcoming permanent construction. Below I've listed critical items the recruit will be responsible for:
Immediately
* The Current ongoing site enabling and temporary works in preparation of the permanent works.
* Providing engineering support to the site team.
* Production of Health and safety documentation: RAMS/WPPs, TBS and permits.
* Ensuring Permit to Dig, Temporary Works and other safety systems are implemented. As a TWS, reviewing TW items and ensuring compliance with design and standards.
* Production of Temporary Works Design Briefs.
Design Feasibility
* Review of scheme drawings and provide recommendation to Sub Agent for review with DH.
* Constructability evaluation of upcoming permanent work.
Upcoming works
* Working with Section teams planning and producing sketches and methodologies for relevant plans and procedures for mobilising.
* Working with the subcontractor to ensure the timely preparation of Risk Assessment Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans, Permits, Consents etc. for the works and that these are implemented.
* Provide engineering and technical assistance to site and apprentice engineers.
* Ensuring all temporary works needs are identified sufficiently early and completed in accordance with the relevant procedures.
* Provide support, assistance, and information to other teams as necessary such as Community Relations, Utilities, and Logistics.
* Ensuring all quality checks are carried out in accordance with the ITP's and properly recorded. Completing checksheets and submitting to quality for review in coherence with progressive quality assurance.
* Issue and present the 6-weekly programme. Present to Client and management regarding site progress.
* Managing the supply chain to ensure that they deliver in an efficient way and in accordance with the Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
* Ad hoc duties as required by the job.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential:
* Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HNC in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering.
* Understanding of Engineering Principles.
* Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.
* Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system).
* Relevant CSCS Card.
* Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management.
* Presentation Skills Training (as they deliver inductions / briefings etc.).
Desirable:
* Computer competence (CAD, Primavera software, Synchro).
* Network Rail Interface experience.
* Producing Work Request Forms, Presenting at whiteboard meetings/GO-NO-GOs, Producing WPPs/ALO Plans and TBSs.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
