Smile Education is recruiting on behalf of a school based in Walsall, seeking a specialist SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis to assist with covering staff absences. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated individual with experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with Autism in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 .
About the Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils with Autism and other SEND needs, providing both 1:1 support and small group interventions. The school values a nurturing and adaptable approach, ensuring that each child can reach their full potential in an inclusive and supportive environment.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who can create a positive and inclusive learning environment for pupils with additional needs.
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
* Minimum Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare or Teaching Assistance.
* Experience supporting students with SEND, preferably in a primary school setting.
* Ability to work on a 1:1 basis with pupils requiring additional support.
* A proactive and adaptable approach to classroom support.
* Strong understanding of SEND needs and how to implement effective support strategies.
* Willingness to assist with personal care as required.
* Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for a new DBS check.
