Title: Kitchen Assistant/Cook
Accountable to: Registered Manager
Salary Grade: £17,875 (£12.50 per hour)
Hours per week: 3 Days on 3 Days off (Monday – Sunday) 27.50 hrs

Tasks:
* Undertake BSL and Deaf Awareness training to facilitate in the provision of an environment that is culturally and linguistically appropriate to the needs of Deaf people.
* Assist in all aspects of food preparation, presentation and service.
* Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, in the kitchen and service areas, that meet all relevant legislation, policies and guidance.
* To assist in the monitoring, setting up and replenishing of the food service counters as and when required.
* To assist in the security of stores.
* To accept deliveries and complete associated paperwork.
* Respond appropriately to comments and complaints.
* To be prepared to assist at Deafway catered events which may sometimes be outside of normal working hours.
* To assist in the preparation and placement of food orders as required and assist in maintaining stock levels required.
* To report, and where possible take action, for any incidents, fire, loss, theft, damage, unfit food or other irregularities.
* Follow environmental health, food hygiene and health and safety regulations in place, including the completion, and recording of necessary inspections and checks.
* To ensure the kitchen and restaurant cleaning schedules are adhered to and assist in the task’s completion.
* Complete training that is required for your personal and professional development, also appropriate training pertaining to the maintenance and development of the standards within the catering department.
* To carry out end of shift locking up procedures ensuring security of buildings, when necessary.
To deputise in the absence of the Cooks ensuring continued provision of a high-quality catering service.
