JOB DESCRIPTION
The Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences is seeking a Psychologist to provide education, program development, assessment and treatment services in the Outpatient Services. You will work to provide education and training to support interprofessional teams providing evidence-based clinical assessment and treatment (individual and group therapy). Position responsibilities also include providing diagnostic clarification for clients, consultation to interprofessional members, supervising students, as well as initiating research projects (which may include quality improvement and program evaluation initiatives).
Requirements:
1. The successful candidate will have a Doctoral level Psychology degree, preferably with 3 years clinical and/or research experience in the field of severe and persistent mental illness, combined with being registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario in good standing. (Candidates who are eligible for registration may be interviewed.)
2. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership skills to work with an interprofessional team, particularly with teams who are in the process of moving towards a best practice foundation.
3. Experience providing, teaching and supervising evidence-based therapies (e.g. CBT, CPT and DBT) is key.
4. Expertise in developing assessment protocols to clarify diagnosis and contribute to evidence-based clinical management and assessment of patients with a serious mental illness and/or personality disorder is important.
5. A demonstrated interest and aptitude for academic activities, including teaching graduate students and the ability to conduct independent research relevant to the Outpatient Program are an asset.
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment, are essential.
This position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.
