The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of the General Internal Medicine specialty with the CSU working alongside the Lead Clinician and Matron. This is an opportunity for the post holder to help shape this developing specialty and its workforce to deliver signifcnnat improvements and benefits to its patients. In addition the post holder will join the other Service Managers in participating in the CSUs daily operational management structure as Leader on Point. The successful applicant will also hold a number of CSU wide responsibilities including: delivery of the waste reduction programme in the CSU; leadership of the Leeds Improvement Method programme in the CSU; and management of the CSUs medical deployment team including the coordination of the Resident Doctor workforce. This role is a well balanced blend of operational, service level management alongside a portfolio of CSU wide responsibilities which will bring opportunities to develop and display other managerial attributes across the CSU and beyond. Main duties of the job The post holder will be the Service Manager for the General Internal Medicine specialty at LTHT. This role will involve service delivery; workforce management;financial control;quality improvement; pathway development; and governance. The service manages 3 wards and has a rotational clinical workforce. The role also includes the coordination and management of the medical deployment team within SIM CSU.This is a small team responsible for circa. 160 wte rotational resident and trust grade doctors. The workforce planning is complex and management of variable costs is important. Working with the clinical rota leads the post holder will design and deliver the most resource effective workforce solutions which meet our obligations as a teaching hospital whilst providing appropriate levels of medical cover across a large number of services. The role also includes the implementation of HR policies across the resident medical workforce and line management of the CSUs medial deployment team. The post holder will be a member of the Leader on Point CSU rota dealing with escalations affecting patient flow, discharge and operational delivery across the CSU.
