We are a leading main contractor specializing in high-spec, office fit-out projects across both CAT A and CAT B works. We are expanding our team and are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to help deliver prestigious projects while working alongside a skilled and supportive QS team.
Role Overview:
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the cost control, procurement, and financial aspects of high-quality office fit-out projects. You will work closely with clients, design teams, and estimating teams to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This role offers a blend of office-based, site-based, and remote working, giving you the flexibility to manage your time effectively while still being an integral part of the team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Client Consultation: Engage with clients from project inception through to completion, providing expert cost consultancy and delivering tailored solutions.
2. Design Liaison: Work closely with design teams to understand and interpret designs, ensuring that client requirements are met within cost parameters.
3. Estimating Coordination: Liaise with the estimating team to create and maintain accurate project budgets and cost plans.
4. Cost Management: Monitor project costs, manage cash flow, and implement cost control measures to ensure financial targets are met throughout the project lifecycle.
5. Contract and Procurement Management: Assist in the procurement process, reviewing and managing contracts, and ensuring value for money through supplier and subcontractor negotiations.
6. On-Site and Office Presence: Spend three days per week either in the office or on-site, ensuring that projects run smoothly, are on track, and that any emerging issues are dealt with effectively.
7. Team Collaboration: Report directly to the Managing Quantity Surveyor and work collaboratively within an established, experienced QS team to deliver high-spec projects.
8. Hybrid Working: Flexible working arrangement with two days working from home, and three days either in the office or on-site, providing the perfect balance of autonomy and team collaboration.
Key Requirements:
1. Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the office fit-out industry, particularly CAT A and CAT B works.
2. A strong understanding of cost planning, procurement, and contract management, with the ability to provide expert advice and consultation to clients.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build strong relationships with clients, design teams, and estimating teams.
4. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring financial and time constraints are met.
5. High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering projects to the highest quality standards.
6. A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field. MRICS qualification preferred, but not essential (or equivalent experience).
7. Strong negotiation skills and experience in managing budgets and contracts for high-spec fit-out projects.
