JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Nursery Nurse/Learning Support Assistant
LOCATION: Cramlington Kids Club Ltd
RESPONSIBLE TO: Centre Manager
Job Responsibilities:
1. To provide 1 – 1 care for a child who is severely sight impaired, hours are to be agreed but possibly 3 days per week.
2. An awareness of the impact of vision loss upon learning and development, together with a good understanding of child development, learning processes and barriers to learning is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
3. Experience of working with vision impaired children and young people is preferable but not essential as training will be provided.
4. To work with Cramlington Kids Club values and aims.
5. Should have a working knowledge of Early Years curriculum programme and strategies.
6. Hold a level 3 qualification in early years.
Duties/Specialist Role:
1. Facilitate the inclusion of child with vision impairment.
2. To raise achievement and learning by encouraging and supporting, helping child to develop compensatory strategies.
3. Encourage learning with and from other children where appropriate.
4. Liaise with outside agencies and share knowledge with other staff.
5. Assist with planning and delivering individual educational plan/support plan or be familiar with and contribute to the child’s Intervention/Support plan.
6. Carry out programmes of support set by other professionals/outside agencies.
7. Monitor, record and evaluate child’s progress to address future needs.
8. Attend meetings as required, e.g. those related to ECHP/Social care framework – EHA.
9. Provide other guidance to colleagues, where applicable, on learning strategies and demonstrate resources.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Provide regular feedback to parents/carers and maintain multi-agency working with aligned professionals and services.
2. Foster independent learning by encouraging positive listening, attention, having high expectations and understanding of the consequences of over support.
3. Undertake any duties that are necessary to ensure that the child has access to a broad and balanced Early Year curriculum.
4. Keeping the Centre Manager/Deputy informed of all aspects of the work.
5. Implementing individual programs for the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and language development of the children in Kids Club.
6. Maintaining files and records in an approved manner and sharing the information with parents on an ongoing basis.
7. Carrying out work of the highest possible standards of good practice and in compliance with statutory and agency requirements.
8. Ensuring the Kids Club is kept to the highest possible standards, giving due care and attention to such areas as maintenance of toys and equipment, health and hygiene routines.
9. Modelling competent childcare practice and techniques.
10. Being fully conversant with Cramlington Kids Club and Local Authority procedures in relation to Child Protection, and to work within them.
11. To assist in identifying own training needs and undertaking such staff development and training exercises as may be required from time to time.
12. Such other duties as will have been discussed and agreed in advance between the Centre Manager.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From £11.44 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 29 per week

Education:
* Diploma of Higher Education (preferred)
Experience:
* Special education: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
* Driving Licence (preferred)
