A maternity liaison service is provided to the Princess Royal Maternity Hospital, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Maternity Unit and Royal Alexandra Hospital Maternity Unit. In addition, the service provides pre-pregnancy assessment for women at high risk of severe perinatal mental illness and those on complex psychotropic regimes. The community team is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals including psychiatrists, mental health nurses, nursery nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, psychologists, parent-infant therapists, and administrators. The community service is fully accredited through the RCPsych CCQI Perinatal Quality Network. There has been significant expansion of services funded by the Scottish Government in recent years to increase perinatal and infant mental health provision across Scotland.
