At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose to improve people’s lives.
It’s an exciting time to be working in Housing at Bath & North East Somerset Council. We’re implementing an organisational change programme and have recently launched our Housing Plan 2025-30 which sets out ambitious actions for housing over the next 5 years.
About the Team
Bath & North East Somerset Council has developed a range of accommodation options in Bath for homeless households. Our new supported housing service is managed in house, with Council staff supporting residents and preparing them to move on to their own homes. The team also manages the Council’s brand-new general needs social housing.
About the Role
You will provide business support to enable the effective management of the Council’s new supported housing and general needs social housing properties. We aim for high standards of customer service and are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the B&NES Homes Supported Housing Management Team.
As the team’s Business Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the efficient operation of the B&NES Homes Supported Housing Management Team.
This is a full-time role, 37 hours per week, permanent contract.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Maintaining all administrative aspects of the Council’s rent account systems.
* Effectively monitor and reconcile all spending to promptly identify potential overspending and budget savings.
* Ensuring the effective operation of information systems for accurate, confidential and secure recording of information. Producing performance reports and statutory returns.
About You
Applicants will need to show that they meet the requirements of the person specification which include:
* A level qualification, or equivalent or relevant experience
* Strong IT skills with excellent financial, numerical and keyboard skills. Accurate data inputting skills and the ability to use web-based tools.
* Proven experience of working with a range of systems, processes and procedures, some of which are complex in nature
* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to cope under pressure as the post holder may encounter customers who are stressed and/or upset.
You will primarily work from the Council’s Supported Housing schemes in Bath. The successful candidate will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check.
It is strongly desirable for candidates to have previous experience of working in a business support role, knowledge and experience of the housing management sector or a background in rent account management.
This is a challenging but rewarding role. If you believe that you can make a real and positive difference to the lives of our residents, we would love to hear from you.
You can expect
* A comprehensive induction
* Regular supervision with your line manager
* Extensive training opportunities, through the council’s training package covering IT skills and Safeguarding and Child Protection courses
* Career development opportunities for example, apprenticeships, qualifications, shadowing and coaching opportunities
