Carmichael UK are seeking a Secondary Lining Section Engineer to join the major projects team, based at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater on a permanent basis.
The project entails the construction of 3 tunnels under the sea bed that will supply 2 reactors with cooling water and then discharge it back into the Bristol Channel. A total of 9km of tunnels will be lined with 38,000 concrete segments. The tunnels will then be connected to the seabed by vertical shafts and capped pass into the tunnels.
As SQS, you will provide guidance to the commercial team and project managers on all matters related to commercial activities for a specific package, or multiple packages.

* Manage chain management and procurement techniques, estimating and surveying functions
* Manage and report on Commercial Risk and Opportunity
* Manage disallowed cost
* Experienced in the recruitment and development of talent within the business
* Provide feedback on team members' strengths and weaknesses and support performance management
* Determine project commercial staff requirements
* Able to connect creative ideas with innovative outcomes and implement using a wide range of improvement techniques
* Manage risks and opportunities at a Project level and update senior teams

About You:
* Extensive experience in Quantity Surveying within a relevant business environment
* Valid CSCS card and UK driving licence
* Working knowledge of construction and contract law along with various forms of Conditions of Contract
* Significant knowledge of construction techniques on particular projects
* BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience
* Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB (or working towards)
* Practical application of Microsoft Office – predominantly Excel
* Experience of using a cost system e.g. Oracle or similar
