NRL are currently recruiting for an Occupational Hygiene Technician to work on behalf of one of our clients at Hinkley Point C.
Responsibilities & Duties:
1. Spend 80% of your time on-site, serving as the primary point of contact for contractors regarding occupational health and environmental concerns
2. Perform occupational and environmental monitoring, including air quality, noise, vibration, and dust sampling
3. Set up, calibrate, and maintain monitoring equipment to ensure accurate data collection
4. Assist in conducting weld fume monitoring and implementing control measures for fumes and dust
5. Support compliance with COSHH regulations by assessing and monitoring hazardous substances
6. Conduct routine inspections to verify adherence to site standards and legal requirements
7. Provide technical support in implementing exposure control strategies and ensuring proper use of PPE/RPE
8. Collect and analyse data to identify trends and generate detailed reports for the management team
9. Support the delivery of toolbox talks and training sessions on environmental and occupational health topics
10. Assist in the investigation of incidents, supporting root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
11. Maintain accurate records of monitoring activities, inspections, and incident responses
12. Collaborate with contractors, project teams, and external stakeholders to maintain high environmental and health standards
You will need:
1. STEM or related qualification (e.g., Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or Engineering)
2. Occupational Health M500 series modules are preferable, with training available for the right candidate
3. Experience in environmental or occupational health monitoring (e.g., noise, dust, air quality)
4. Familiarity with COSHH and other UK regulations relating to health and environmental compliance
5. Strong technical aptitude with experience in calibrating and maintaining monitoring equipment
6. Good analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and produce reports
7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to support training and collaboration with teams
8. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage time effectively
9. Experience in construction environments is desirable
