Quantity Surveyor
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent
Location: CA6 4EZ
Salary: £16.23 - £21.64 per hour
Start Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities:
* Pre-Contract: Assist in preparing cost estimates and tender documentation.
* Contract Administration: Administer NEC4 contracts (especially Option A) and ensure compliance with the contract terms and conditions.
* Cost Control: Prepare and review cost plans, and manage project budgets, ensuring projects stay within budgetary limits.
* Cost Reporting: Produce weekly CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations) on-site for tracking progress and identifying discrepancies.
* Change Management: Effectively manage variations and change orders, ensuring proper documentation and agreement with all stakeholders.
* Tendering: Evaluate tenders and negotiate costs with contractors and suppliers.
* Site Liaison: Regular site visits to assess work progress and resolve any cost-related issues.
* Project Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, contractors, and consultants to achieve project objectives within time and budget.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Previous QS Experience: Proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor on major infrastructure projects.
* NG Projects (Desirable): Experience working on National Grid (NG) projects would be beneficial.
* NEC4 Contract Knowledge: Familiarity with the NEC4 suite of contracts, especially Option A (fixed price contract).
* Cost Reporting: Strong experience in cost reporting on site, including preparing and presenting weekly CVR reports.
* Technical Expertise: Good knowledge of cost estimation, procurement, and contractual matters.
* Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work with project teams, clients, and subcontractors.
Qualifications:
* Degree or Equivalent: In Quantity Surveying or related field (preferred).
* Professional Membership: RICS or similar accreditation would be advantageous.
Additional Requirements:
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Flexibility to transition from a temporary role to permanent employment based on performance
