Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Transport Department of West Yorkshire Police as a Vehicle Installation Technician. The successful candidate will work within a team of highly skilled VPU Technicians and Fabricators. The key responsibilities include:
1. Commissioning a wide range of vehicles to a high standard for various uses within West Yorkshire Police.
2. Commissioning vehicles to set specifications in line with legislation and regulations.
3. Installing specialised police equipment (e.g., police emergency lighting, in-car CCTV, ANPR systems, Tracker system, telematics, radio communication equipment) along with associated brackets.
4. Applying vehicle livery and anti-bandit film to windows.
5. Working as part of a team in the design and manufacture of equipment for specialist police uses.
6. Attending training courses for professional and personal development, both in-house and at suppliers/manufacturers' bases.
7. Completing all approved Vehicle Fleet Management forms and miscellaneous paperwork accurately.
8. Working at alternative locations around the Force area when required by VPU Management.
9. Removing all police equipment from vehicles for disposal.
Minimum Requirements:
The successful candidate must have a level 3 City and Guilds/NVQ in Motor Vehicle Engineering / Auto Electrics or equivalent, along with relevant proven experience in a recognized motor vehicle environment.
It is essential to hold a full and current UK/European Driving Licence.
