Technical Project Manager
GE Vernova is looking to recruit Project Engineering Leaders to work on our exciting new projects within our Northern European Grid Solutions Business which covers the UK & Ireland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. You’ll be based in our Stafford office (circa 2 days per week), we have a flexible approach to working operating a hybrid system and reduced working hours on Fridays.
As a Project Engineering Leader, you will be instructing, supervising, coordinating, and leading the engineering activities of the project in line with the project’s safety, quality, time delivery, and cost criteria. You’ll be the technical lead of electrical design and engineering of large energy projects – including preparing specifications, leading on deviations and clarifications, attending FATs and SATs.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Issuing consolidation of provisional drawing list of the project or of your work package, integrating submission dates.
* Managing global time schedule of concerned engineering activities, checking coherency of links between engineering activities and other project functions activities (procurement, construction, commissioning) and organizing follow-up of critical activities of the project or of your discipline.
* Planning and managing delivery time of technical interfaces with your work package, putting in place exchange interface sheets with partners, customers, and third-party contractors.
* Ensuring on-time delivery of design to stakeholders with suitable quality including Partner documents.
* Supporting Project Engineering Director and Project I&I manager in the engineering change management for large & complex projects.
* Leading & coordinating design teams – you’ll be supported by Primary, Secondary, and Civil Designers.
* Following the engineering budget and identifying potential savings while highlighting to the Project Manager all instances requiring additional budget.
* Participating and contributing to the project multidisciplinary design reviews according to the EMH procedures and per the project strategy.
* Managing scope or design changes & preparing related claims and VO to be approved by Project Engineering Director or Project Manager.
* Analyzing customer technical requirements, preparing and consolidating clause by clause analysis, and ensuring compliance to Customer requirements through Technical Queries, identifying, tracking, and managing potential change.
* Representing customer interests in the design decisions at Project Manager’s request.
* Validating design throughout customer acceptance.
* Ensuring that Management of return status of project documentation internal or external (approved, comments, resubmit, rejected) is performed for your work package.
* Preparing or reviewing technical specifications and supplier’s documents to enable procurement of materials and plant detailed design.
* Checking effectiveness of design against delivery of contract requirements within project budget and looking for global cost optimization in all design phases, mainly during basic design.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will have the following qualifications and experience:
* Engineering degree level or equivalent education/experience.
* Experience of Engineering activities as lead engineer in EPC type environment.
* Successful experience in project technical management in a multi-disciplinary team’s context including multiple interfaces and with products coming from several countries.
Desired Characteristics:
* Knowledge of the Transmission or Distribution industry is essential.
* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are advantageous.
* Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
* Knowledge of Renewable Energy systems is beneficial.
* Knowledge of GIS systems is beneficial.
