Interim Children’s Residential Registered Manager

Pay Rate: £331.46 per day PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 7 months
City: REIGATE
You will support the Children’s Residential Service to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people and ensure they have the opportunity to thrive. You will ensure legislative and regulatory requirements regarding all issues (Health and Safety, Environmental Health etc) but especially regarding the care of children.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Have good regulatory knowledge with a practical understanding of Children's Homes Regulations and the Ofsted inspection framework
2. Prioritise safeguarding children and young people and ensure positive outcomes through creative and innovative methods
3. Can demonstrate a strength-based, individualised, and proactive leadership approach underpinned by collaboration and effective assessment and risk management
4. Understand and foster an inclusive and positive team culture, providing support so that staff and children feel welcomed, valued and able to achieve their potential
5. Can establish and build trust with staff, children and key stakeholders across residential services and care
Qualifications:
1. Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent and an ability to meet Ofsted regulatory requirements to become a Registered Manager
Knowledge:
1. In depth knowledge of delivering statutory childcare services
2. Must have a detailed knowledge and understanding of Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, especially regarding children with profound intellectual and physical disabilities.
3. Knowledge of current evidence-based research about the needs of children and young people who have experienced significant trauma, difficulties forming relationships and attachments, and require support to manage/regulate their own behaviour and mental health.
Experience:
1. At least 2 years' experience within children's residential care, within the last 5 years
2. Substantial experience of direct work with children and young people and their families.
3. Must have prior experience of working within a Children’s Home, as a manager or assistant manager, providing short breaks services to severely disabled children.
4. Experience of quality assurance processes and systems.
Skills & Abilities:
1. Proven leadership and managerial skills in a social care or health setting
2. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a range of individuals, built on trust in sometimes challenging situations
3. Ability to adopt a process of continual improvement and suggest ways of working more efficient and effectively to improve service delivery and is able to implement effective performance management techniques to meet service needs
