These are exciting times for Andover Hospital as we now are a Community Diagnostic Centre, and a second Endoscopy room has been built in our unit.
The Theatre Practitioner Band 5 role is a primary function supporting the theatre team for the optimal care of our patients. The delivery of high quality, effective and compassionate health care to the patients of the Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust is the most important objective for the organisation.
Main duties of the job
At Andover Day Surgery Unit we perform a wide range of procedures which include minor ENT, Ophthalmology (cataracts, glaucoma) and Endoscopy. We are a highly regarded teaching hospital and regularly have visitors attending to observe our practices and techniques from all over the world.
We understand the importance of supporting professional development and offer a fantastic in-house development programme, with regular teaching sessions and one-to-one reviews with an emphasis on personal as well as professional support and wellbeing. We encourage extended roles such as the Surgical First Assistant and Assistant Theatre Practitioner. We provide a rich learning environment for student ODP’s and Nurses and you will help our team and the practice development lead to deliver this.
If you are a motivated individual with excellent communication skills and who is committed to providing the highest standards of patient care in a well-supported and motivated team, we want to hear from you. Due to the nature of the services we provide, we offer day shift patterns with our elective service currently running 5 days a week (Monday - Friday).
Working for our organisation
Our vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient. Patient care is at the heart of what we do at our three sites: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and Andover War Memorial Hospital. Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides medical and surgical services to a population of approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire.
Our cultural ambition is to have a culture that places people at the heart of all we do, where we all belong, and where learning, improvement and excellence thrive.
We provide specialist services to people across the UK and internationally. We are one of only two centres in the UK treating pseudomyxoma peritonei (a rare form of abdominal cancer) and we are leaders in the field of tertiary liver cancer and colorectal cancer.
The trust employs more than 9,000 staff and has a turnover of over £500 million a year. As a Foundation Trust, we are directly accountable to our members through the governors. The Council of Governors represent the interests of their constituencies and influence the future plans of the Foundation Trust.
