Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a sessional Art Therapist to work within Priscilla Bacon Lodge. You must be a Registered Art Therapist with current registration to the Health and Care Professions Council.
Main Duties of the Job
Our ideal candidate will have proven abilities to work with patients and families who have changing needs, both on an individual basis and in groups, as well as an understanding and ability to support individuals and families throughout their illness and into bereavement.
A large proportion of the therapeutic work will involve the facilitation of groups for children of the patients either in the palliative phase, preparing them for the death of a parent and following up into bereavement.
Develop, provide and evaluate individual Art Therapy for Hospice patients, their families/carers and offer Art Therapy as part of palliative and bereavement care and support.
Professional Responsibilities
1. To provide Art Therapy sessions in the most appropriate environment.
2. To maintain high standards of Art Therapy care.
3. To develop, provide and evaluate individual Art Therapy for Hospice patients, their families/carers.
4. To offer Art Therapy as part of palliative and bereavement care and support.
5. To maintain timely and up to date treatment records on SystmOne.
6. To feedback and seek support when required on caseload.
7. To maintain professional registrations with the appropriate bodies and complete the necessary requirements to maintain professional registration.
Personal Development
1. To maintain up-to-date knowledge of development and skills in Art Therapy.
2. To maintain and increase personal professional skills.

Qualifications & Training (Essential)
1. Registered Art Therapist with HCPC.
2. Experience in palliative care and bereavement.
3. Effective professional communication skills, able to deal with complex matters overcoming any problem in communication that may arise.
4. Evidence of delivering and evaluating therapeutic art groups to children and adults in a palliative/bereavement context.
5. Able to prioritise own workload and decide level and amount of intervention to offer, or when to refer to others.
6. Ability to offer individual therapeutic sessions to children or adults including palliative patients.
7. IT literate with the ability to use dedicated data base systems (SystmOne), Microsoft packages, and Outlook or willingness to undertake training.
8. Ability to work with high levels of distress.
9. Ability to support people dealing with loss and change and bereavement or transferable skills.
10. Highly motivated, enthusiastic, committed, and adaptable, conducting yourself in line with the general standards of conduct, values, and behaviours of the charity.
11. Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload whilst maintaining attention to detail.
12. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
13. Able to demonstrate a flexible working approach, adapting to the needs of the role and the wider team.
