PURPOSE OF ROLE:
As a UX Design Manager at Interactive Investor (the UK’s number one flat-fee investment platform), you will play a pivotal role in leading a team of talented UX designers, working side by side with the UX Manager to deliver high quality user journeys and experiences across all our digital products. You will be responsible for ensuring that our design standards are consistently met, user interfaces are intuitive, and user journeys are seamless. Working in close collaboration with the UX Operations Manager and Design System Lead you will ensure our Design System upholds the highest design standards. Additionally, you will run design critiques and foster a creative environment where your team can thrive. You will work hand in hand with the UX Research Manager to make sure that Designs are evidence based and data driven, and work closely with the UX Manager to ensure the Design Team delivers the highest quality of UX Designs. You will champion accessibility and sure guidelines are met within the designs.
Please note : This role is based in Manchester and will require you to work from the office three days per week, as per company policy.
Requirements
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Collaborate with UX Ops, UX Manager, and UX Research Managers: Work closely with the UX Operations Manager, and UX Manager to align design strategies with broader business goals and delivery squads, and the UX Research Manager to ensure user insights are integrated into the design process.
2. Ensure High-Quality Design Standards: Oversee the design team to ensure that all deliverables meet high-quality standards, adhering to established design principles, and maintaining consistency across all products and platforms.
3. Design Consistency Across Products: Establish and enforce a consistent design language and style guide across all digital products to ensure a cohesive user experience and working closely with Brand and the brand identity.
4. Brand Ally - Collaborate closely with Brand to ensure design and visual consistency of our products and services.
5. Champion Digital Accessibility: Advocate for and implement accessibility best practices in design, ensuring that all digital products are usable by people with diverse abilities and comply with relevant accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
6. Mentor and Develop Design Team: Provide leadership and mentorship to the design team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and innovation.
7. Facilitate Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a liaison between design, development, product, and marketing teams to ensure that design aligns with overall business objectives and technical feasibility.
8. User-Centered Design Advocacy: Promote a user-centered design approach across the organization, ensuring that user needs and feedback are at the forefront of the design process.
9. Drive Innovation and Creativity: Encourage and lead the exploration of new design trends, tools, and technologies to keep the design team at the cutting edge of the industry.
10. Foster a Collaborative Team Environment: Cultivate a team culture that values collaboration, open communication, and knowledge sharing, enabling professional growth and the continuous enhancement of design processes.
11. Empower UX Designers for Innovation: Encourage and support UX designers to explore innovative and creative design approaches while ensuring that their work aligns with the overall business objectives and user needs.
12. Conduct and Lead Design Critiques: Organize and facilitate regular design critique sessions, providing constructive feedback and fostering an open environment where team members can discuss and refine their work to achieve the best possible design outcomes.
13. User Journey Optimization: Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to map out user journeys and identify opportunities for improvement. Lead the team in designing and refining user flows that enhance the overall user experience. Use data-driven insights to iterate on designs and continuously improve the user journey across all products.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
14. Leadership and Team Management: Proven experience in leading, mentoring, and managing a team of UX designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
15. User-Centered Design: Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, including experience with user research, personas, journey mapping, and usability testing.
16. Design Tools Proficiency: Expertise in industry-standard design tools (Preferably Figma) and other prototyping and wireframing tools.
17. High-Quality Visual Design Skills: Strong ability to create visually compelling and aesthetically pleasing designs, with attention to detail in typography, color theory, layout, and overall visual hierarchy.
18. Design System Contribution: Experience in contributing to design systems, ensuring consistency and efficiency in design across multiple platforms and products.
19. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, marketing, and UX research, to align design efforts with business goals.
20. Digital Accessibility: Knowledge of digital accessibility standards and best practices (e.g., WCAG), with experience in designing inclusive products that are accessible to users of all abilities.
21. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze user data, feedback, and design performance metrics to inform design decisions and drive continuous improvement.
22. Communication and Presentation Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and strategies to stakeholders at all levels.
