Support Officer – Young Parents Supported Accommodation Service
Location: Oxford
full time, Monday to Friday, starting immediately
We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Officer to join our clients team at a Young Parents Supported Accommodation Service in the Oxfordshire area. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of young Parents and their children. As a Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing practical assistance, emotional support, and guidance to empower young Parents in their journey towards independence and a positive future.
Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day support and guidance to young Parents residing in the supported accommodation.
Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents’ needs and develop personalized support plans to address their individual goals and challenges.
Assist residents in developing essential life skills, including parenting, budgeting, cooking, and accessing education or employment opportunities.
Offer emotional support and encouragement to help young mothers build confidence and resilience.
Facilitate group workshops and activities that promote personal development, well-being, and positive parenting.
Collaborate with external agencies, such as social services, health professionals, and educational institutions, to ensure residents receive the necessary support and access to community resources.
Advocate for the rights and needs of young mothers, providing information and advice on relevant services and entitlements.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident progress, support provided, and any significant incidents or concerns.
Promote a safe and supportive living environment, addressing any maintenance or health and safety issues promptly.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery by actively participating in team meetings and sharing feedback and ideas.
Requirements:
Previous experience working with young Parents or vulnerable populations, preferably in a supported accommodation or social services setting.
A genuine passion for supporting and empowering young Parents to achieve their full potential.
Knowledge of the unique challenges faced by young mothers and an understanding of trauma-informed care principles.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish trusting relationships with residents.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, external agencies, and community partners.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities to effectively prioritize tasks and manage a caseload.
Non-judgmental and compassionate approach to support work.
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, as required.
