Responsibilities
* Production is 24/7; this role is shift-based and will require working continental shifts.
* Providing support to operations to ensure test equipment is available to meet production schedules. Much of this support is ‘hands-on’ and will be in a cleanroom environment.
* Debugging and repairing tools independently while in manufacturing.
* Preventative maintenance of equipment.
* Commissioning and maintaining automated test equipment (ATEs) for optoelectronic components (Lasers, Modulators, Detectors, and Photonic Integrated Circuits).
* Improving and maintaining existing test infrastructure to ensure production schedule and output targets are achieved.
* Identifying opportunities to maximize test capacity (test time reduction, re-test rate reduction, etc.).
* Supporting the development team by providing inputs to equipment design, building, and wiring test kits.
* Building and wiring of test equipment.
* Maintaining spares for test equipment.
* Technician training and process documentation.
Requirements
* Analog and digital electronics debugging, ability to interpret electronic circuit diagrams.
* Experience in basic software debugging (stop/start/repeat failing code blocks).
* Able to write detailed and informative error reports clearly indicating problems.
* Able to prioritize work when dealing with production-impacting problems.
* Knowledge of automated testing in a manufacturing environment.
* Any text-based programming language ideally VB and/or C#, understanding concepts more important than syntax.
* National Instruments test instruments (e.g., PXI).
* Knowledge of robotic systems.
* High Precision Motion control (e.g., Thorlabs/Newport).
* Ability to solder and build cables.
* Experience working with opto-electronics devices (laser, modulators, detectors).
* Debugging of C# / VB.Net code.
* NI Test Stand; adjust/modify Test Stand sequences.
* Epson Robot systems.
* Re-teaching computer vision systems to recognize new products.
Qualifications
* HNC/HND or equivalent experience in any scientific or engineering (Electrical/Electronic) based field.
The first 6-8 months in the role will be working on day shift undergoing training.
The shift pattern is 12 hours; 2 days / 2 nights and 4 days off. As the site is in a rural location, transport is needed as there is no public transport.
