The Harm Reduction Community Education Coordinator contributes to the program’s goals of reducing the incidence of Hepatitis C (HCV) and HIV transmission among Person’s Who Use Drugs (PWUDs). Offer of employment is for a full-time position (35 hours per week) and the execution of work within Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Work as a member of the Harm Reduction department to implement the annual workplan and budget in line with the agency’s strategic plan and provincial Harm Reduction objectives.
2. Represent the agency during provincial meetings and conferences.
3. Maintain collaborative relationships with community partners and groups that serve or could be in line to serve PWUDs.
4. Participate on local committees to help add value and collaborate with other service providers in the region to strengthen service integration and increase service accessibility for PWUDs.
5. Deliver educational trainings and workshops to service providers that work with PWUDs, with the aim of helping to address stigma and isolation and enhance service provision.
6. Implement and provide oversight of the Service Provider NSP Training Program.
7. Increase accessibility of Needle Syringe Program (NSP) services throughout Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent by:
1. Providing oversight of existing NSP sites and partner organizations;
2. Assessing the feasibility of potential new NSP satellite sites;
3. Onboarding of new NSP satellite sites;
4. Assisting with the evaluation of service delivery model.
8. Ensure data (# of participants, resources distributed, etc.) from all trainings, workshops and community development activities are documented/tracked.
9. Distribute harm reduction supplies, pre-packaged kits and associated paraphernalia to individuals accessing PPCS NSP services.
10. Maintain consistency and accuracy when tracking service user statistics.
11. Refer PWUDs seeking services over and above those offered through the NSP to local community resources.
12. Incorporate persons with lived/living experience (peers) into program delivery.
13. Adhere to current Pozitive Pathways policies and procedures.
14. Participate as an active member at all department and agency staff meetings.
15. Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Programs & Services or designate.
