As a combined Acute and Community Trust, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) is enjoying greater integration working with colleagues across different sectors within the footprint of Morecambe Bay.
Not only does this provide improved ways of working within the multi-disciplinary context, it enables you to be involved in the exciting journey ahead for providing transformational care within Morecambe Bay.
We are a multi-disciplinary team who would welcome you to join us.
Main duties of the job
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Integrated Community Stroke Team (ICST) based in the Furness Area. This is rotational between the Inpatient team at Furness General Hospital and the Community covering Furness and South Lakes. This allows colleagues to be a part of the whole patient pathway from admission to discharge and ongoing rehabilitation in the community. Rotations are currently 4 monthly.
We provide a 6 day service including Saturdays for the inpatient pathway and 5 day service in the community pathway currently with the aim of 7 day inpatient working and 6 day community working in the future.
We offer a supportive induction plan and stroke specific training/competencies. There is also the opportunity to engage in NROL (Neuro rehab online) and support the ongoing service developments alongside the Integrated Stroke and Neuro Delivery Network (ISNDN).
Our aim is to ensure all our patients have access to appropriate treatment in the right location. Our approach to stroke services will require a degree of flexibility as well as creative thinking to establish and form new pathways of care.
About us
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
