Senior General Ledger Accounting Manager
Salary Circa £70,000 National / Circa £80,000 London

We have a fantastic opportunity in our General ledger Accounting and Control team within GI Finance.
Reporting into the Head of GL Accounting Financial Control and operations, this role is key in the delivery of the general ledger (GL) close, operating the financial control framework for high quality controlled and accurate GL fit for onward financial reporting.
This role will work closely with both the Market stakeholders, the financial reporting team, and the GL reconciliation team. The ideal candidate will enjoy leading a team, problem solving and driving transformational change.
A bit about the job:
1. Leading a team of 8 acting in accordance with GI Finance leadership expectations and standards.
2. Work in conjunction with the UKGI GL Accounting Senior manager to deliver a joined up, timely and robust GL close.
3. Own and manage the population of all transaction into the general ledger ensuring the appropriate controls and oversight are in place and fully operational.
4. Own and resolve any issues or exceptions reported through the GL close process, understanding full root cause, and enhancing the control environment if required for prevention of similar issues in the future.
5. Perform robust reviews of the balance sheets for both Market and legal entities and attend the Balance sheet review meeting to provide comprehensive update the Market CFOs on the month end process and key focus areas.
6. Provide technical accounting support and be able to translate this into ledger accounting.
7. Lead the audit deliverables for the team, working closing with the external auditors and the financial reporting teams.
8. Receive and review the outputs of the production of balance sheet reconciliation working closely with the GL reconciliations team ensure appropriate review and governance is in place.
9. Ensure all risk and issues are managed and captured across the team, together with timely reviews of key controls and EUC’s, adhering to the minimum standards and providing updates to relevant stakeholders and provisioned for appropriately.
10. Includes manage and review any potential risk impacting the balance sheets.
11. Continually monitor the risk and control environment to ensure we have the right key controls in place.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
12. A qualified accountant (eg ACCA, ICAW).
13. Strong people leader skill, with experience in managing a team and developing individuals.
14. A proven track record of transforming teams and processes.
15. Flexible to changing environments and the ability to prioritise workload effectively for both you and the team, while maintain high standards.
16. Excellent communications and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with other areas of the business.

17. Salary Circa £70,000 National / Circa £80,000 London (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
