An excellent opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and highly skilled plastic/complex wound practitioner to join a dynamic and progressive multi-disciplinary team in one of the largest plastics units in the UK based at MFT over 3 sites. The plastics team treats patients in our outpatient's department, inpatients at Wythenshawe and the Oxford road site supporting patients with complex wounds.
The post may require working cross site at other MFT hospitals including Wythenshawe Hospital, Withington Community Hospital and Oxford Road.
The TACP will be supported by trained ACPs and members of the medical team during your training. You must undertake a Masters' level qualification in Advanced Clinical Practice, which will incorporate the independent prescriber module. The successful post holders will attend university 20% of their working week and 80% clinically in the workplace during term-time. The TACP will be expected to develop across the 4 pillars of advanced practice: clinical practice, education, research and leadership/management.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will develop their role in the advanced clinical assessment and treatment of a diverse caseload of trauma and elective plastics/complex wound patients. You will develop an advanced level of clinical reasoning, clinical diagnostic skills and treatments as indicated, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner. You will develop expertise and skills across the four pillars to further develop and enhance the plastics/complex wound service and pathway. They will ensure that evidence-based practice is inherent in all aspects of care and treatment and ensure that this knowledge is disseminated throughout the clinical area, Trust and externally as appropriate.
The areas for the post holder to complete work based learning in will be discussed and agreed upon successful appointment and will be related to the specific competencies required to meet the needs of the service. Successful completion of the programme and development as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner requires engagement in all aspects of the Masters programme.
The post holder will be allocated a mentor who may be a Doctor or an Advanced Practitioner. This is to ensure successful achievement of the clinical skills required to fulfil the role of Advanced Clinical Practitioner in their specified area of work and also to meet the needs of the Masters programme. The trainee will be identifiable in their new role as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in training.

Knowledge/ experience / skills
* Minimum of 5 years experience as a Registered nurse in burns care.
* NMC Registration
* Teaching/ Assessing Qualification
* IT literate
* Flexible to meet needs of post
* Excellent written and verbal communication and de-escalation skills
* Knowledge of the speciality and relevant general medical knowledge
* Post registration study /qualification in Cardiac surgery/ Cardiology or Critical Care
* Clinical skills including venepuncture, cannulation, urinary catheterisation
