Glemsford Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice nurse to join their established team on a 12 month fixed term contract. The role is to work on a full-time basis, for 37.5 hours per week. (negotiable). As a practice nurse you will be responsible for the delivery of general practice nursing to the whole practice population. The focus of the role is both the delivery of evidence-based practice for patients presenting with long term conditions and the provision of preventative healthcare to the practice population. The main responsibilities of the role include: Working with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients and support the deliver of services. Administering prescribed injections. Carrying out childhood and adult immunisations in accordance with patient group/specific directions (PGDs/PSDs) Performing ECGs. Monitoring blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol. Taking collection of specimens - phlebotomy, urinalysis, swabs. Cervical cytology, in accordance with national screening programme. Contraception reviews of oral, patch, ring and injectable devices. About the Candidate All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience: Essential: A relevant nursing degree. Current NMC registration with an active PIN. Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or working towards. Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Clinical knowledge and skills. Previous experience of GP Practice nursing or equivalent work environment. Desirable: Family planning qualification. Experience of chronic disease management. Our staff comprises 4 salaried GPs, and three members of the nursing team alongside a multitude to allied health professionals and practice administration staff.
