An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Policy Development Manager to join our Government Relations team, based in Kings Place London. This is a new critical role working in the very heart of our Government Relations function, supporting our mission to become a high-performing, competitive, resilient and growing business.
As Policy Development Manager, you will lead the development of our policy priorities and support our engagement with Government stakeholders in our most significant markets. You will be responsible for developing and driving the substance and tone of our engagement with Government, assessing and advising on policy priorities and positions in pursuit of our strategic objectives.

What you will be doing:
With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to:
* Work with our Strategy Team to translate group policies positions into value to government cases and develop appropriate materials for engagement with political stakeholders.
* Lead and manage policy development projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines and objectives are met, including identification, assessment and proposals for mitigating policy-related risk.
* Coordinate policy initiatives across different departments within the company to ensure alignment and consistency.
* Develop and draft internal policy proposals, position papers, and briefing materials for senior executives.
* Ensure all policy initiatives comply with internal standards and legal requirements, ensuring alignment and consistency and subsequently monitor and analyse internal developments.
* Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of current policies and recommend improvements.

To be successful in this role you will need to:
* In-depth knowledge of policy analysis, development, regulatory frameworks, and relevant legislative grounding with strong analytical skills to assess policy implications and make informed decisions.
* Significant experience in policy development, research, or related fields and proven track-record in developing clear and concise policy documents, proposals, policy analysis, briefs and recommendations.
* Ability to provide strategic direction, motivate teams, lead by example and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
* Proficiency in conducting thorough research and synthesizing information from various sources.
* Excellent communication skills to convey policy information internally and assist in stakeholder engagement.
* Capacity to think critically and develop long-term strategic plans aligned with organizational goals.
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or suitable equivalent experience.
* Knowledge gained within the defence/aerospace industry would be beneficial.
