Role Description
We are seeking a driven and competent individual to join our senior team as our Service Manager.
Reporting to Director level, you will be responsible for managing our service team which consists of depot engineers, field service engineers, service/project coordinators, sales staff & sub-contractors where appropriate (who generally have either electrical and/or mechanical skills and experience). You will play a critical role in managing the team in an efficient and professional manner to ensure planned maintenance, new installations & reactive breakdowns are completed to a high standard, providing excellent overall customer service.
You will be pivotal in leading the service team across the UK & whilst the candidate will ideally be based at our Head Office in Evesham, a hybrid role will be considered for the right candidate.
Key Tasks & Duties
* Ensuring operational excellence of the service department (nationally & occasionally internationally)
* Planning of routine service & maintenance works for generators & related power systems (e.g. switchgear, fuel tanks, transformers, load banks etc)
* Ensuring adequate spares & consumable stock levels are purchased & maintained
* Ensure warranty claims are made with OEM procedures followed
* Maintaining service related documentation & continue to meet standards
* Provide continued training, development & identify new areas of growth within the service team
* Recruitment of new staff for the service team, as needs identified
* Participation in out of hours working & on-call rota as/when required
* Provide technical support to field based engineers in & out of hours, as required
* Attend site meetings & provide technical support to the commercial team, as required
* Oversee & manage larger projects to ensure delivery meets expectation
* Oversee sales revenues (incl. P&L) for service related activities
* Minimise downtime of equipment that is under repair to ensure maximum fleet availability
* Oversee, implement & review the departments health, safety, environment & quality procedures to ensure compliance
* Any other duties considered related or essential for effective service operations, as required
Qualifications
* Previous experience in managing a service team effectively (ideally within the power generation industry, equipment rental industry, or a related sector)
* Must be able to demonstrate a high level of mechanical and/or electrical experience & knowledge
* Must have a high level of IT/computer literacy and have experience of using & managing service management systems
* Reporting experience with a great attention to detail (for updating internal & external stakeholders of the business)
* Previous experience with customer communication would be advantageous
* Full & clean driving licence (and ability to travel nationally)
* Various security clearances will be advantageous (a DBS check will be carried out during your employment)
