The successful applicant will take a lead role, in partnership with Justice and Substance Use services, to develop an effective peer support network for people recovering from substance use, mental health and involvement in offending behaviours. The Peer Support Coordinator will promote and deliver a range of peer support opportunities throughout Midlothian, and recruit, train, support and supervise peer volunteers who will be involved in delivering support in both group and individual settings.
The successful applicant will work as part of the Recovery & Justice Support Team and the wider Midlothian Health in Mind Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Services team, and support the promotion of all Health in Mind services.
About the Role
This role is part of SAMH's dynamic Fundraising & Income Generation department, which plays a vital role in driving the financial growth and sustainability of our organisation. Within this department, there are five dedicated teams, each crucial to generating income through diverse strategies and initiatives. These teams work collaboratively, integrating their expertise to maximise opportunities through cross-selling and upselling, ensuring a cohesive and effective approach to achieving our goals. Joining this team means being at the forefront of innovative income generation efforts that directly support SAMH’s mission.
The Delivery Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating all enquiries relating to training, workplace wellbeing events and advisory services, maximising all opportunities for the Workplace team. This will include liaising with internal and external stakeholders to schedule any commissioned workplace products and services, identifying opportunities of significant value or strategic importance and providing administrative support to the Workplace Business Development Manager.

* Reimbursement of PVG, Disclosure & SSSC annual fees and registration costs
* Funded continuous learning and development opportunities, access to over 100 courses online in addition to classroom and virtual training sessions

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen to join Alzheimer Scotland as a Centre Activities Coordinator, with three part-time positions available across our Edinburgh locations.
We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to form a team across our two sites:
Two postholders will be based at our new Outdoor Brain Health & Dementia Resource Centre at Lauriston Castle Lodge – with a strong focus on outdoor, nature-based, and green health activities.
One postholder will be based at our National Centre in West Edinburgh, supporting a wider range of dementia-friendly activities within a centre-based setting.
While each postholder will have a designated base, we anticipate that all three Centre Activities Coordinators will collaborate closely and provide support across both sites as needed, ensuring a seamless and inclusive experience for people living with dementia and their families.
About the Role
The Centre Activities Coordinators will play a vital role in developing and delivering engaging activities that align with our ALOIS programme model, which includes:
* Creating inclusive spaces for listening and connection.
* Offering meaningful opportunities for individuals and families to engage in therapeutic and social activities.
* Tailoring activities to support brain health and provide dementia friendly engagement.
* Ensuring a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for those who need support.
At Lauriston Castle Lodge, the two Centre Activities Coordinators will take a lead in running outdoor and nature-based activities, making full use of the beautiful surroundings to provide a green health approach to brain health and dementia care. The aim is to support people in enjoying the outdoors in a safe, structured, and therapeutic way.
At the National Centre, the Centre Activities Coordinator will coordinate a range of centre-based activities, working with individuals, families, and partners in Health & Social Care, the NHS, and the wider community to enhance service delivery and raise awareness of dementia and brain health.
We are looking for dynamic, compassionate, and creative individuals who can support people in both indoor and outdoor settings. They should take a person-centred, flexible, and innovative approach to organising and leading activities while working collaboratively as part of a team. Strong relationship-building skills with attendees, volunteers, key partners and colleagues are essential.
We are looking for individuals with excellent communication and networking skills, a strong understanding of the values and mission of Alzheimer Scotland, and a willingness to learn and participate in relevant training. While experience working with people with dementia is desirable, it is not essential. A passion for community-based support is key, and for the Lauriston Castle Lodge roles, a genuine interest in the outdoors and green health is particularly important.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an innovative team, making a real difference in the lives of people living with dementia. If you are ready to contribute to our vision that nobody should face dementia alone, we’d love to hear from you.
You will be required to have a full driving license and access to a car.
Successful candidates for this post will be subject to a criminal check through Disclosure Scotland.

The day services in Dumfries are open Monday to Friday.
Our Support Workers are our most important people as they provide front line support. The successful applicant will have a positive approach to dementia. You will also have good communication skills and a caring attitude. Supporting individuals to keep connected to their communities, engage in their interests and hobbies and access peer support while contributing to activity development and leading the way towards exciting and new activities to promote brain health.
The use of a car is preferred (mileage and expenses are paid for travel out with base location).
A willingness to learn and participate in training (including SVQs) and registration with the SSSC is essential. Relevant qualifications and/or experience of working with people with dementia would be an advantage.
